After several months plotting away in our cave, the New Zealand Bloggers Union is back and we intend on fighting the 2008 election.
If you are reading this and are a blogger based in or from New Zealand, then you are automatically a member. No matter your political persuasion, you are all members and we will be YOUR voice for Election 2008 and we will be YOUR voice for any other issue that takes our fancy. There is an objection clause if you choose to not take up membership but you will need to apply to the NZBU HQ and we will decide each case by merit - but who would want to leave when you will have a collective voice against the evil forces during election time.
Top Reasons why membership to the NZBU must be compulsory:
1) We need to be compulsory so that we represent every blogger. If we were fragmented we could not claim to represent all bloggers and would lose our voice!
2) It needs to be compulsory because we provide services to our members and cannot have freeloaders.
3) Paying levies is just like paying taxation. We provide services just like a government does. You cannot opt out of paying tax just like you cannot opt out of paying levies.
4) If membership was voluntary, nobody will join and everybody will lose out.
5) The vibrant blogging community would die out if we didn't have a compulsory bloggers union.
Remember - membership is compulsory, and if you don't like it, nobody forces you to run a blog :)
We will be asking for people to join the team here at the NZBU, and first of all I'd like to welcome our Campaigns Officer, Global Citizen. Our Campaigns officer will speak on issues of the day which broadly represents every member of our union. If you want to join the team, please email me, or leave your details in the comments box below.
The NZBU will speak for and on behalf of bloggers like Jordan Carter, Tony Milne, The Standard, Robinsod, 08wire, No Right Turn, Jafapete, Sonic, Frog Blog, Public Address as well as other bloggers from all political persuasions.
We look forward to representing you!
Love - President Loudmouth

I conscientiously object to being associated with a blog that is coloured red and hereby move that it be changed to blue.
Ha! I'll be part of the foreign big business conspiracy trying to bring you all down with the concept of voluntary unionism - obviously you'll realise I don't really believe in freedom, but want all blogs to be part of my transnational profit oriented corporation seeking to find a market in the underutilised business of trafficking in children's organs.
Blue sounds like a goer. Give us a few days to collectively put our heads together :)
To be fair, it should be coloured, red, blue, green, black and white. Red looks horrible
If we colour the blog blue, we risk losing the support of our left-wing members, without which this bloggers union could not function effectively.
The red and black was symbolic of the fascism that we will force upon our members. :)
Hey, I'm just wondering, what exactly is this bloggers union going to go about doing? What do we get for our membership? Cheers.
Underground - You will get representation that you have not received before. We will help guide your opinion for the election and then represent your voice in the media.
